Coinbase will automatically convert remaining balances of 14 restricted crypto assets for retail customers in the European Economic Area on October 30, 2026. Affected tokens include USDT, PYUSD, DAI, PAX, GUSD, GYEN, BUST, UST, RAI, PAXG, MUSD, USDS, and TGBP.

The conversion is a compliance measure following the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation (MiCA). These assets lack the necessary regulatory authorizations, and Coinbase is acting in accordance with guidance issued by the European Securities and Markets Authority on October 8, 2026.

Users who wish to retain their current holdings must withdraw them to external wallets before the deadline. After October 30, trading and deposits for these assets will be disabled, and any late deposits will not be credited or recovered.

Balances not withdrawn by the cutoff will be swapped into USDC or other supported assets at market rates. The exchange warns that this process may result in significant portfolio changes, particularly for tokens tied to gold or currencies other than the US dollar.
