Starting September 20, 2026, major courier companies including ZTO, YTO, STO, Yunda, and J&T Express have increased their service fees in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. In Jiangsu, the rate for all branches and partner clients rose by at least ¥0.1 per parcel. In Anhui, the minimum increase is ¥0.15 per parcel for all shipping clients.
The companies stated that the price adjustments are necessary to cover rising operational costs, including labor, transportation, and equipment maintenance. These measures aim to ensure network stability and move the industry away from unsustainable low-price competition. The changes apply specifically to corporate and partner accounts, leaving individual shipping rates unaffected.
Prior to this regional hike, courier outlets in several cities in Henan province, including Zhengzhou and Luoyang, increased prices by ¥0.2 to ¥0.3 for parcels weighing 0–3 kg on September 9. These adjustments are part of a broader industry-wide effort to curb aggressive price wars and improve service quality.
The Chinese postal authorities have been actively addressing excessive competition throughout the year, with provincial regulators in Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Qinghai, and Anhui holding meetings to promote industry stability. The State Post Bureau has conducted special research in Henan and Jiangsu to support the transition from scale-based expansion to quality-focused growth.
Financial data reflects these shifts, as courier companies reported significant performance growth in the first half of 2026. Yunda reported that the industry's average revenue per parcel reached ¥7.68 in the first half of the year, a 2.3% year-on-year increase, with August data showing a 4% year-on-year rise in per-parcel revenue.
