Shares of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp (JAC) reached their daily upper limit of 9.98 percent on October 16, 2026. This recovery follows a 22.37 percent decline in the stock price between October 8 and October 15.
The market reaction follows an announcement by three Chinese government agencies, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, regarding a joint investigation into the Maextro V800. The probe focuses on reports of brake pedal bracket failures.
The investigation was initiated after the automotive platform Dongchedi released a video on October 8. The test showed that three V800 vehicles experienced bracket failures during emergency braking maneuvers from 100 km/h.
Maextro, a brand developed jointly by Huawei and JAC, stated that no such failures have occurred in customer vehicles. The company previously described the test conditions as non-standard and extreme.
The Maextro V800, launched on August 5, is a flagship MPV with prices ranging from ¥766 000 to ¥1 016 000. The brand has pledged full cooperation with the authorities and promised a free design upgrade for owners.
