China has officially set a 2030 deadline for the completion of its national blockchain network. This objective is outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Informatization, which was recently released by the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission to guide the country's digital development policy.
The strategic roadmap prioritizes the integration of blockchain technology across several key sectors. Plans include expanding its use in trade and finance within the Yangtze River Delta, as well as large-scale deployment for manufacturing and agricultural operations in the Chengdu-Chongqing region.
Beyond infrastructure, the government aims to establish more robust technical standards for blockchain systems. The policy also emphasizes leveraging the technology to facilitate data circulation and trading, reinforcing the state's commitment to blockchain as a national priority.
While mainland China maintains a strict ban on cryptocurrency-related business activities, it continues to promote blockchain development. This initiative aligns with broader directives from the central leadership, which has identified the technology as a critical component for enhancing national capabilities.
