China Mobile Hong Kong has completed the deployment of the region's first U6GHz network. The company conducted equipment testing at its flagship store in the Mong Kok district to evaluate the performance of the upper 6 GHz spectrum for future mobile communications.

The U6GHz band is considered a key resource for the evolution of 5G-Advanced and 6G technologies. Following a spectrum auction held in November 2024, where Hong Kong became the first region to allocate these frequencies for mobile use, China Mobile Hong Kong secured a 100 MHz block.

By utilizing spectrum aggregation, the operator successfully achieved download speeds exceeding 3 Gbps. This technology allows for the combination of new frequencies with existing ones, aiming to enhance network capacity, improve service quality in crowded areas, and support high-definition video streaming.

Simultaneously, China Telecom in Macau has initiated its own field trials. The company has installed a demonstration U6GHz base station to test the capabilities of the new frequency band in its local network environment.
