The Chinese Ministry of Education has launched a comprehensive AI literacy training program for teachers. This initiative is supported by the newly upgraded Teacher Development Center on the National Smart Education Platform, which provides access to AI learning resources, specialized tools, and professional communities.
The training program aims to guide educators through the stages of learning, applying, and creating with AI. The curriculum covers practical applications across the entire teaching lifecycle, including lesson preparation, classroom instruction, academic assessment, and school management.
This initiative builds on previous directives from April, where five government departments mandated the integration of AI into teacher training and certification exams. These measures are intended to modernize the curriculum for student teachers and incorporate AI knowledge into professional qualifications.
The government has set a long-term goal to achieve deep integration of artificial intelligence and education by 2030. The strategy includes building a comprehensive education system, improving the quality of AI talent cultivation, and establishing a mechanism for fostering AI literacy across society.
