CATL announced its progress in solid-state battery development, aiming for small-batch production by 2027. The company stated that its technology currently holds a leading position in the industry.
Regarding production capacity, CATL noted that recent facility expansions have eased previous constraints. Despite rising market demand, the company expects its capacity utilization rate to remain high and stable.
Chairman Zeng Yuqun previously assessed the company's solid-state battery technology at level 4 on a 9-level scale, where level 9 represents full mass production. He emphasized that success depends on technical maturity, supply chain reliability, and market acceptance.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with other departments, released a development plan for the battery industry through 2030. The roadmap targets large-scale application of solid-state batteries by that year.
The official industry goals for 2030 also include achieving a cycle life of 15,000 cycles for long-life lithium batteries. Furthermore, leading manufacturers are expected to reduce product defect rates to the PPB level.
