BYD is planning to double its annual vehicle production capacity at its Brazilian facility to 600,000 units. The company is currently finalizing its stamping, welding, and paint infrastructure to support this expansion.
The manufacturer aims to source over 50% of its components locally by the start of 2027. This strategy is designed to meet regulatory requirements and facilitate future vehicle exports to neighboring countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Uruguay.
As of late 2026, the company targets a delivery rate of 25,000 vehicles per month in Brazil. However, current consumer demand is estimated at approximately 30,000 units monthly, resulting in a shortfall of 5,000 to 6,000 sales.
The company has set a long-term goal to become the leading automaker in the Brazilian market by 2030. This initiative follows the opening of its newest plant in the region one year ago.
