BYD has unveiled the 2027 model year Seagull, which features increased dimensions and a new Flash Charging system. Despite these upgrades, the starting price in China has been reduced to $9,800, which is $700 lower than the 2026 version. The vehicle is marketed internationally as the Dolphin Mini and Atto 1.
The car utilizes the Blade Battery 2.0, supporting charging stations with power up to 1.5 MW. High-end configurations can reach a 70% charge in approximately five minutes. The vehicle is available with two battery capacities: 30.1 kWh for the base model and 39.2 kWh for higher trims, with the latter priced up to $14,900.
The hatchback's length has increased to 4,205 mm, and the wheelbase has grown to 2,650 mm, making it 425 mm longer than its predecessor. The cabin now accommodates five passengers. Depending on the configuration, the electric motor produces 85 kW or 95 kW, offering a range of 320 km or 420 km respectively under the CLTC cycle.
The interior includes a 15.6-inch display, 50 W wireless charging, and climate-controlled front seats with massage functions. An optional BYD DiPilot 300 driver assistance system with a lidar is available. The release follows a 33% decline in global sales during the first nine months of 2026, with domestic sales in China dropping by 66%.
