Porsche has officially launched its wireless inductive charging system for the Cayenne Electric SUV. The technology eliminates the need for manual cable connections, as the vehicle automatically begins charging once parked over a dedicated ground pad installed in the user's parking space.

The system delivers a charging rate of up to 11 kW with an efficiency of approximately 90 percent. It is designed for overnight use and features integrated safety mechanisms, including motion sensors and foreign object detection, which automatically halt the process if a living creature or metallic object is detected near the pad.

The wireless charging solution is currently available for order in Germany and other European markets, with a global rollout planned in stages. The technology adheres to the Society of Automotive Engineers standards for both the vehicle receiver and the ground pad, potentially allowing for future integration into other vehicle models.
