BYD has launched the second-generation Seagull electric vehicle in China. The new model is priced from ¥65 900 to ¥99 900, which is approximately $9 900 to $15 000. A limited-time trade-in incentive allows the starting price to drop to ¥62 900, or about $9 500.

The vehicle has grown in size, measuring 4 205 mm in length, 1 810 mm in width, and 1 570 mm in height, with a 2 650 mm wheelbase. The updated design now accommodates five passengers instead of four. The car features a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, DiLink 150 system, and optional DiPilot 300 ADAS with LiDAR.

Performance upgrades include a multi-link independent rear suspension and a choice of 85 kW or 95 kW electric motors. The car is equipped with Blade Batteries 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, supporting 30.1 kWh or 39.2 kWh LFP packs with CLTC ranges of 320 km or 420 km.

A key safety addition is the standard high-speed tire blowout stability system, designed to maintain lane control at speeds up to 140 km/h. The manufacturer demonstrated the system's effectiveness during a test at 140 km/h, which is approximately 87 mph.
