BYD unveiled its flagship electric heavy-duty truck, the ETT 44, at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Hanover. The vehicle features a 651 kWh Blade battery, an 851-volt architecture, and a peak power of 1,000 horsepower. It offers a maximum range of 600 kilometers and supports 1.5-megawatt fast charging, which can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.

The company plans to launch the ETT 44 in Europe next year and aims to localize production for all products sold in the region. BYD is currently constructing a manufacturing plant in Szeged, Hungary, with mass production scheduled to begin in 2025. According to BYD executive Stella Li, local production is intended to mitigate the impact of import tariffs and establish the company as a European entity.

Beyond vehicle manufacturing, BYD is offering a comprehensive service model for fleet operators. This includes financing, solar charging infrastructure, workshop networks, and roadside assistance. The company is also expanding its commercial vehicle lineup in Europe, showcasing models ranging from 3.5 to 44 tons, including the E-Vali light commercial vehicle and the EYT 2.0 electric yard tractor.

BYD's commercial vehicles are currently operational in over 100 countries and 400 cities. The company is also scaling its charging infrastructure, having installed 10,000 units of 1,500 kW charging piles within five months. Plans are underway to deploy 15,000 megawatt-level charging stations in China and expand its fast-charging network into Canada.
