BYD has raised its 2026 overseas sales guidance to a range of 1.9 million to 2.0 million vehicles. This follows previous targets of 1.3 million set in January and 1.5 million in March. For 2027, the company aims to exceed 2.5 million units in international markets.
In the first eight months of 2026, BYD recorded 1,162,260 overseas sales, an 85.72% increase year-on-year. August saw a record 189,466 units sold abroad. Conversely, domestic sales fell 32.72% to 1,505,755 vehicles during the same period.
To support growth, BYD is expanding its shipping fleet and local production. The company's Brazilian plant is ramping up to an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles, while its Hungarian facility is scheduled to begin assembly by the end of 2026.
Profit per vehicle sold overseas reached approximately ¥20,000 in the first half of 2026. The company intends to maintain this level of profitability while investing in sales networks and new manufacturing sites.
BYD plans to install 90,000 flash charging stations in China by the end of 2028, with 20,000 expected by the end of 2026. Additionally, 6,000 stations are planned for international markets by the end of March 2027.
