BYD has unveiled design sketches for the second-generation Seagull, also known as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf in international markets. The updated model, referred to as the Great Seagull, features a redesigned exterior with trident-shaped lighting and expanded dimensions. The vehicle is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2026.

According to regulatory filings from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the new model measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. This represents a significant increase in size compared to the current 3,780 mm long version.

The vehicle will be equipped with a 95 kW electric motor, an upgrade from the current 55 kW unit. Expected technical enhancements include the integration of BYD’s second-generation Blade Batteries, Flash Charging technology, and an upgraded ADAS system featuring the God’s Eye B platform, supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR.

Interior updates include a larger infotainment screen, a redesigned center console, and a two-spoke steering wheel. While pricing for international markets remains unconfirmed, the new model is expected to launch overseas as the second-generation Dolphin Surf, likely priced below €30 000.
