BYD has shared official design sketches of the second-generation Seagull, showcasing a minimalist cabin. The interior features a floating central touchscreen, a new 2-spoke steering wheel, and an open storage area in the center console equipped with wireless charging and two cupholders. The digital dashboard has been removed in the new design.
The updated model is 425 mm longer than its predecessor, with a total length of 4,205 mm and a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. These changes allow for an increase in seating capacity from four to five passengers. The vehicle is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 95 kW, utilizing lithium iron phosphate batteries.
Regulatory filings indicate that one of the two planned variants will offer optional LiDAR along with front, rear, and side radar sensors. While BYD has released exterior and interior previews, the company has not yet announced an official launch date or pricing for the second-generation model.
The current Seagull model remains a significant contributor to BYD's sales, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.5 million units from April 2023 through August 2026. In the first eight months of 2026, the company sold 227,251 units, with 36,106 units sold in August alone.
