BYD has unveiled the Atto 8, a new flagship electric SUV that will replace the BYD Tang. The vehicle, which debuted at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, features a 115 kWh battery and offers a range of over 600 km. It is designed to accommodate up to seven passengers.
The Atto 8 is the first BYD model in Europe to utilize Flash Charging technology. This system allows the battery to charge from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes under specific conditions. The company plans to install 300 compatible chargers in Germany by the end of 2026 and 3,000 across Europe by the end of 2027.
The SUV comes in two configurations: the rear-wheel-drive Design version with 340 kW of power and the all-wheel-drive Excellence variant with 570 kW. The Excellence model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, while the Design version takes 8.0 seconds.
The interior includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 26-inch head-up display, and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with integrated Google services. The vehicle also features a 2.4-square-meter panoramic roof and a cargo capacity ranging from 270 to 1,960 liters, plus a 136-liter frunk.
The European market launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. While official pricing remains unannounced, industry expectations suggest the starting price will likely exceed €75,000.
