BYD has unveiled the Atto 8, a seven-seat electric flagship SUV designed for the European market. The vehicle features a second-generation Blade battery with a 115 kWh capacity. It is scheduled to arrive in European showrooms during the first quarter of 2027.
The SUV is available in two configurations. The rear-wheel-drive Design model delivers 455 horsepower and offers a WLTP-rated range of 405 miles. The all-wheel-drive Excellence version provides 764 horsepower and 571 lb-ft of torque, with a range of 374 miles.
The manufacturer claims the vehicle can charge from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. This performance requires the use of proprietary Flash chargers rated at up to 1,500 kilowatts. BYD plans to install 3,000 such stations across Europe by the end of 2027.
In cold weather conditions of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the charging time from 10 to 97 percent increases to 12 minutes. The vehicle measures 198.4 inches in length and includes a 15.6-inch central touchscreen along with a 25.7-square-foot panoramic glass roof.
