The ETT 44 is a 44-tonne battery-electric tractor unit featuring a 651-kWh LFP Blade Battery. The vehicle offers a range of nearly 600 kilometers and a motor output reaching 1,000 PS at peak performance. BYD provides a warranty for the battery covering ten years or 1.2 million kilometers.

Charging capabilities include up to 420 kW via CCS2, allowing a 20% to 80% charge in 60 minutes. Using the MCS standard, charging power exceeds 1.5 MW, which can replenish nearly 400 kilometers of range in 20 minutes. The tractor unit's curb weight varies between 10.95 and 11.14 tonnes depending on the configuration.

BYD showcased the model at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover alongside new 26-tonne rigid trucks. The company aims to cover a weight spectrum from 3.5 to 44 tonnes in Europe. Beyond vehicles, the manufacturer plans to provide energy storage, charging infrastructure, and financing services.

The European heavy-duty electric truck market currently includes competitors such as Daimler Truck, MAN, and Volvo. Additionally, Chinese manufacturers like Sany, Sinotruk, and Skyworth are also presenting their electric heavy-duty trucks at the IAA and expanding their presence in the region.
