The US Department of Commerce has issued a license to Boeing, enabling the company to resume cooperation with the Belarusian airline Belavia. This development follows a previous authorization granted by the US Department of the Treasury, which allows for direct financial interactions between the parties.
According to Belavia CEO Igor Cherginets, the new permissions allow the airline to procure original spare parts and components directly from the manufacturer. Additionally, the carrier is now eligible to receive software updates and initiate negotiations regarding the potential purchase of new aircraft from the American producer.
The process of lifting restrictions began on September 11, 2025, when the US announced the removal of sanctions against Belavia. This decision was communicated by John Cole, who was later appointed as the US special envoy to Belarus, during a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko.
