The Federal Aviation Administration may issue a type certificate for the Boeing 737 MAX 10 as early as October 20. This follows a meeting of the Type Certification Board held on October 16. The certification process was previously delayed due to concerns regarding the flight control software, specifically related to automated flight path tracking during go-around maneuvers. Regulators concluded in early October that the issue does not pose a critical safety threat.
The 737 MAX 10 represents the largest variant in the 737 MAX family and accounts for approximately one-third of the company's total order backlog. Major airline customers include United Airlines with 167 units, Alaska Airlines with 161, American Airlines with 112, and Delta Air Lines with 100 aircraft on order. Boeing currently aims to begin deliveries of the 737 MAX 10 in 2027, coinciding with the planned rollout of the smaller 737 MAX 7 model.
