The BNB Chain team has released technical specifications for a new Layer 1 blockchain designed for high-frequency trading, payments, and AI agent operations. The network will operate alongside the existing BNB Smart Chain, with a native bridge currently under development to facilitate interaction between the two chains.

The new network will utilize the BNB token for transaction fees, staking, and governance, with no plans to issue a separate token. The architecture maintains compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing existing Solidity smart contracts to function without modifications, though some infrastructure tools will require updates.

Performance targets include an interval between blocks of 200 ms and transaction pre-confirmation in approximately 20 ms, with finalization occurring in under one second. The network employs a Multi-Lane mechanism to reserve bandwidth for latency-sensitive operations and separates transaction ordering from execution to improve throughput.

The project roadmap schedules the launch of a public testnet by the end of 2026, with the mainnet expected in early 2027. Developers aim to achieve a throughput exceeding 100,000 transactions per second through consensus optimization, parallel execution, and a new data storage system.
