BMW has unveiled details for the 2027 i3 50 xDrive, an all-electric sedan built on the Neue Klasse platform. The vehicle is scheduled for a US market release in the first quarter of 2027 with a starting price of $62 850, including a $1 350 destination fee. The model is positioned to compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The sedan features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque. It utilizes sixth-generation high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells, which offer a 20 percent increase in energy density compared to the previous generation. The EPA-estimated range is approximately 468 miles.

The vehicle supports bidirectional charging, including V2L and V2H capabilities, and features a smart charging port with Plug and Charge functionality. The interior replaces traditional instrument clusters with a windshield-projected head-up display and a 17.9-inch central touchscreen. The system runs on Android and supports over-the-air updates.

BMW has integrated an advanced version of Amazon Alexa, powered by a large language model, to handle natural language commands and vehicle controls. Additionally, the car includes a TiVo-powered video application for streaming content while parked. The navigation system uses proprietary BMW maps integrated with Google Places data.

A high-performance variant, the i3 M60 xDrive, is also planned for release in 2027. This model will feature distinct M-specific design elements, including 21-inch Style 1067M aerodynamic wheels. Pricing for the M60 version has not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
