Axelera AI has officially released its Europa AI Processing Unit architecture, which serves as the successor to the Metis chip. The hardware is available in three configurations: as a standalone chip, the Edge 232p PCIe card, and the Server 250p PCIe card. The architecture features eight second-generation AI cores, 16 RISC-V vector cores, 128 MB of L2 SRAM, and an onboard video decoder.
The Europa chip supports INT4, INT8, and INT16 precision and delivers up to 629 TOPS with a 45 W TDP. The Edge 232p card is compatible with Dell XE5 and Supermicro 111AD systems. Meanwhile, the Server 250p integrates four Europa units to provide over 2,500 TOPS of combined performance, achieving 4,205 tokens per second on the Qwen3 8B model.
The company reports a sales pipeline exceeding $1,5 billion and maintains a global client base of more than 600 customers. Axelera AI is currently developing its next product, a chiplet named Titania, which is designed for rack-mount servers and supercomputing environments.
