The QuickSwitch utility enables automated file and directory opening within various applications. The tool integrates with file managers such as Windows Explorer, Directory Opus, XYplorer, and Total Commander to streamline navigation.

Users can configure the AutoSwitch mode to automatically select paths from specific sources. The utility supports five primary path sources: file managers, pinned paths, saved bookmarks, clipboard contents, and a unified menu stack.

The software uses a Z-order approach to track open windows, allowing users to define specific window indices for path retrieval. It ignores non-file manager applications while maintaining a stack of available paths based on recent usage.

Advanced settings allow for filtering paths by active panes or tabs. Users can restrict operations to the active tab or exclude locked tabs, providing granular control over how directories are accessed during file dialog interactions.
