Starting in November, Audi will implement a new dual leadership structure for its China operations. Jeff Zhang, formerly a top executive at Chery International, will assume the role of President of Audi China, replacing Johannes Roschek. Rolf Michl, the current CEO of Audi Sport GmbH, will join him as Chief Operating Officer.
The leadership change follows a period of declining sales for Audi in China. Parent company Volkswagen has reported a 30 per cent drop in sales across all its brands in the country since the beginning of the year. The reorganization aims to streamline the Audi China Board of Management and improve the company's competitiveness in the market.
Jeff Zhang brings over 20 years of international management experience to the position. His background includes leading China operations for Alfa Romeo and DS Automobiles at Stellantis, as well as previous roles at Audi in China between 2018 and 2020, where he helped establish the SAIC Audi sales organization.
Rolf Michl has been with Audi since 2007, holding various roles in product management, sales, and marketing. Since 2022, he has served as Chairman of the Management Board of Audi Sport GmbH. Rouven Mohr, Board Member for Technical Development at Audi AG, will temporarily lead Audi Sport during this transition period.
