Atlas Bio, founded in 2024 by former autonomous vehicle engineers, has raised $12.5 million in total funding. The company secured a $10 million seed round led by Creandum, following a $2.5 million pre-seed round led by First Momentum Ventures and LEA Partners.
The startup, headquartered in Basel with operations in Delaware, uses AI to simulate Phase II clinical trials. Its foundation model is trained on approximately 2 million human RNA readouts to predict molecular responses in patients without requiring prior drug efficacy data.
The company aims to address high failure rates in clinical trials, where roughly 70% of candidates fail to progress. According to Atlas Bio, a standard Phase II trial costs at least $100 million and takes 2 to 3 years to complete.
Atlas Bio is currently collaborating with a top-10 pharmaceutical company and has enabled a Basel-based biotech client to bypass animal studies for a development program. The company plans to expand its team and customer base through 2026.
The firm expects its first trial results approximately six weeks after its October 27 announcement. The broader in silico clinical trials market is projected to reach $4.16 billion in 2026 and $5.93 billion by 2031.
