Vera Health, a clinical AI search engine, has secured $28.5 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Threshold Ventures, with participation from Optum Ventures, Mantis VC, and SV Angel. Existing investors Y Combinator and Gradient also contributed, bringing the company's total funding to $32 million.

The platform functions as a search engine that evaluates medical evidence from over 60 million scientific publications, guidelines, and drug labels. It provides clinicians with answers linked to research sources, color-coded by evidence strength. The tool is compliant with HIPAA and GDPR, and holds SOC 2 Type II certification.

Currently, Vera Health is utilized by more than 800,000 clinicians across 190 countries. The company has grown its internal team from six to 12 employees. Usage has scaled from a few thousand daily queries to hundreds of thousands, driven largely by physician referrals and direct engagement at medical events.

The company operates on a model where the platform remains free for individual licensed clinicians and medical trainees. Revenue is generated through institutional partnerships, where hospitals pay for deeper integration of internal protocols and customized versions of the tool. The new capital will be used to enhance the company's clinical evidence infrastructure, support international expansion, and develop further partnerships with medical societies and health systems. The firm plans to increase its presence in Europe, having recently made its first hire in Berlin.
