ASUS has released a preview GPU driver enabling AMD FSR 4.1 upscaling for the ROG Ally X and ROG Ally X20 handheld consoles. Users can access the update via the Armoury Crate SE software by navigating to the Update Center and selecting Preview Updates.

The handheld version of FSR 4.1 utilizes a lightweight model, which is less than half the size of the original INT8 version. This implementation is specifically optimized for the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. The technology is compatible with over 400 games that already support FSR 3.1 or later versions.

To activate the feature, users must enable it within game settings and toggle the FSR tile in the Command Center. ASUS advises against using the system-level RSR upscaler simultaneously. The company notes that this preview release may contain bugs and has not yet provided specific performance data.

Support for the original ROG Ally remains uncertain, as the October 28 driver update did not explicitly confirm FSR 4.1 integration. Meanwhile, AMD plans to expand FSR 4.1 to Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs and APUs, with Xbox Series X|S consoles expected to receive the update in the coming weeks.
