The new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will feature an AI-driven activity tracking system. The system will continuously collect data from the microphone, GPS, and other sensors to generate daily activity summaries, including summaries of conversations.
To ensure privacy, the system will not save audio recordings or generate text transcripts of conversations. Users can choose to run the feature all day or limit its operation to specific locations.
The generated summaries will be stored in a new Siri application. This functionality relies on new chips in the latest Apple Watch models, which allow for the secure processing of audio samples directly on the device.
The feature must be manually enabled by the user. Apple is expected to emphasize its strict privacy protections compared to competing AI wearable devices.
