Apple has introduced new AI-powered audio processing features for Apple Watch, including Audio Intelligence, Live Rewind, and Siri Recap. These tools allow the device to process speech and ambient sounds in real time, marking a shift in the company's traditional approach to privacy.

Audio Intelligence is designed to alert users to specific sounds like sirens, alarms, or a baby crying, functioning independently of an iPhone. The feature is intended to assist users with hearing impairments by identifying critical environmental noises.

Live Rewind enables users to capture and transcribe the previous 15 seconds of audio by double-pressing the Digital Crown. The resulting text can be saved in the Siri app, allowing users to record conversations or specific statements without storing the raw audio files.

Siri Recap operates in the background to generate summaries, key points, and titles from conversations. Apple states that this feature is not enabled by default and can be restricted to specific times or locations, such as during work hours.

To address privacy concerns, Apple confirmed that audio is not accessible to the company, speakers are not identified, and all data is protected by end-to-end encryption. The company aims to balance utility with data security, though the impact on user behavior remains to be seen.
