Apple has announced updates to its App Store age rating system, requiring developers to disclose specific features starting November 16, 2026. Developers must declare if their applications include location sharing or dating and relationship services to ensure accurate age classification.

The dating and relationship category now encompasses traditional dating apps, as well as services featuring virtual AI companions or emotional interaction content. Apps containing these features will be assigned a minimum age rating of 18 years and older.

For location sharing features, age ratings will be adjusted based on regional regulations. In Brazil, apps with location sharing must carry an A16 rating, while dating services require an A18 rating. Exceptions exist for family safety apps, which may apply for a lower rating through the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.

Developers are required to complete these declarations when submitting app updates or modifying age rating questionnaires. All relevant applications must comply with these new reporting requirements by January 12, 2027, to avoid potential disruptions to the app review and update process.
