Apple is reportedly developing its own AI server chips to compete with Nvidia. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, these processors could be based on the M7 Ultra architecture, with a potential market release in 2029.
Earlier reports suggest that Apple is planning two versions of its enterprise-grade servers. The base model would feature two M8 Ultra chips, while the high-end configuration would integrate four of these processors.
The company is considering the use of Nvidia's NVLink Fusion technology to connect the M8 chips. This solution includes switches, chiplets, and software designed to enable high-speed coordination between multiple processors in a data center.
Beyond the chip development, Apple is preparing to launch a new AI server system. Industry estimates indicate that this hardware could be ready for deployment by early 2027.
