Apple has officially released the iOS 27.2 update, which introduces a feature to restrict motion data access for specific applications. This update is available to users in mainland China and aims to prevent apps from using device sensor data to trigger advertisements via shaking motions.

Users can manage this setting by navigating to Settings, Privacy & Security, and Motion & Fitness. By adding an app to the restriction list, the system blocks the application from accessing accelerometer and gyroscope data, which are typically used to detect shaking and initiate ad redirects.

The update also includes exclusive features for the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable device. These additions include support for the USB-C Apple Pencil for writing and annotation, as well as an Edge Light feature that uses the screen to illuminate the user's face during video calls.

While this update limits the trigger mechanism for motion-based ads, it does not remove the ads themselves. Users should be aware that restricting motion data may affect the functionality of apps that rely on sensors for navigation, fitness tracking, or other legitimate motion-based services.
