Apple has updated the Mac Studio configurator to include a 512 GB unified memory option. This upgrade is exclusive to models equipped with the M5 Ultra processor, featuring a 36-core CPU and an 80-core GPU.
The 512 GB memory upgrade adds $15 500 to the total cost. A Mac Studio configuration with this memory and a 1 TB SSD starts at $22 299, while the base M5 Ultra model is priced from $5 499.
Users can also opt for SSD storage up to 16 TB. Selecting this maximum storage capacity alongside the 512 GB memory brings the total price of the system to $29 799, with the storage upgrade alone costing $7 500.
The 512 GB memory option is intended for high-demand tasks such as local AI model processing and professional content creation. For the M5 Max chip, the maximum unified memory remains capped at 128 GB.
Apple announced the M5 Max and M5 Ultra Mac Studio models in August, with sales beginning on September 22. Shipments for the 512 GB memory configuration are expected to commence between late November and early December.
