Apple's vice president of home product marketing, Kaiann Drance, stated that the HomeView smart home hub prioritizes a minimalist user experience and Siri AI integration. The device aims to unify household device management and daily tasks through natural language processing, allowing users to issue commands without memorizing specific phrases.
Unlike mobile devices such as the iPhone or iPad, HomeView is designed to remain stationary and always powered on. It serves as a central control point for smart home equipment, including lighting, thermostats, and security cameras. The hub also introduces support for multi-user switching for the first time.
Lilian Rincon, vice president of AI product marketing at Apple, noted that Siri on HomeView is intended to execute tasks directly rather than engage in extended conversation. The system is designed to process requests, display relevant information, and then return to a passive state.
The device has notable limitations, including a small screen size and the inability to run applications directly. Users must rely on AirPlay from an iPhone to stream content like Apple TV. Official shipping for the HomeView is scheduled to begin on November 13, 2026, with reports suggesting a larger version is in development.
