Apple and LG Electronics are collaborating on a new line of smart home devices, including a smart door lock, intercom, thermostat, and indoor and outdoor security cameras. These products will be branded as LG but will feature full compatibility with Apple's smart home ecosystem.

LG will handle the manufacturing and after-sales support for the new devices. The products are expected to hit the market within the next few months, with a broader rollout planned for early next year. LG has already registered several of these devices with the US Federal Communications Commission.

The new hardware will support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter protocols. The smart door lock will also feature Ultra-Wideband technology, enabling users to unlock doors using digital keys stored on smartphones or wearable devices.

This partnership follows Apple's previous collaborations with companies like Belkin and Logitech. By leveraging external manufacturing, Apple aims to expand its smart home ecosystem while minimizing internal development costs.

For LG, this initiative marks a significant expansion into new product categories, including its first indoor security camera in over a decade and its first-ever outdoor cameras, thermostats, and intercoms for the global market.
