Anthropic has announced plans to establish a Public Benefit Fund, pending shareholder approval. The company intends to allocate an initial 5% of its shares to this new entity, which will operate as a wholly-owned limited liability company.

The fund's stake could increase as the company grows. For every 50% rise in valuation above an undisclosed baseline, the board may allocate an additional 2% of shares to the fund. These assets will support non-profit donations, direct grants, and initiatives addressing AI-related job displacement.

The company explicitly stated that the fund's equity will not be used for political lobbying or campaign contributions. With this new allocation, approximately 20% of Anthropic's total shares are now designated for public interest purposes, excluding potential future increases.

Anthropic is preparing for a major IPO under the Public Benefit Corporation legal structure, which mandates balancing commercial returns with public interest. The firm plans to release further details on the fund's governance and valuation thresholds in the coming months.
