Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model family, has announced a plan to allocate 5% of its shares to a new public benefit fund. The initiative is designed to address potential job market disruptions resulting from the advancement of artificial intelligence. The implementation of this proposal remains subject to formal approval by the company's stockholders.

The company board retains the discretion to expand this commitment. Specifically, an additional 2% of shares may be allocated to the fund for every 50% increase in the total valuation of Anthropic. This new pledge follows a previous commitment by the firm, which involved $200 million dedicated to researching and mitigating the impact of AI on employment.

Market observers are currently monitoring the stockholder voting process, as the outcome may influence broader market sentiment regarding the company. Future valuation prospects for Anthropic are also expected to be shaped by strategic partnerships with major investors, including Amazon and Google, as well as the ongoing development and market reception of its AI product suite.
