Anthropic's S-1 filing, submitted to the SEC on October 26, 2026, reveals a significant shift in the company's operational efficiency. The firm now generates $2.08 in revenue for every dollar spent on compute, a substantial increase from the $0.40 recorded in the first quarter of 2025.
In the second quarter of 2026, Anthropic reported revenue of $11.555 billion, while compute and infrastructure expenses totaled $5.558 billion. Year-over-year, revenue grew by 1,368%, whereas compute costs increased by 300%. Consequently, compute expenses dropped to 48% of total revenue, down from 251% in early 2025.
The company achieved an operating profit of $974 million in Q2 2026, representing an 8% margin. Despite this, Anthropic recorded a net loss of $66.3 billion for the same period, primarily attributed to fair-value charges resulting from accounting revaluations.
Anthropic attributes these efficiency gains to a shared compute pool strategy that integrates hardware from NVIDIA, AMD, Google, and AWS. By decoupling workloads from specific hardware, the company optimizes its infrastructure utilization, allowing revenue growth to outpace the rising costs of hardware procurement.
