Anthropic has officially submitted its S-1 filing to the SEC, signaling plans for an IPO on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol ANT. The company expects the offering to take place in mid-November 2026, with market valuations potentially reaching between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion.

Financial results for the first half of 2026 show revenue of $16.3 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of over 1,300%. The second quarter was particularly strong, contributing $11.6 billion to the total and marking the company's first quarterly operating profit of $974 million.

Despite the revenue growth, the company reported an operating loss of $693 million for the first half of the year, while adjusted operating income reached $1.62 billion. The reported net loss of $80.7 billion is primarily attributed to non-cash accounting charges related to convertible notes.

The filing highlights a significant performance gap between Anthropic and Chinese AI labs such as Z.AI and MiniMax. Combined revenue for these two firms in the first half of the year was approximately 1/63rd of Anthropic's total, with Z.AI reporting annualized revenue of about $284 million.

Anthropic's prospectus also outlines substantial financial obligations, including billions of dollars in compute commitments owed to cloud providers Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. Additionally, the company identified regulatory risks concerning advanced AI and potential misuse as key factors for investors to consider.
