Anthropic launched the Life Sciences Verification Program on September 17, 2026. This gated beta initiative provides selected organizations with access to high-capacity AI models designed for biological research and drug discovery, including Mythos 5.1, Opus 5, and Sonnet 5.
Participation in the program is restricted to invite-only status. Interested organizations must submit an administrative form for an eligibility review, with approval not guaranteed. The company implemented biosafety classifiers and controlled access pathways to manage potential dual-use risks.
The new program complements the existing AI for Science credit initiative, which offers researchers credits between $20,000 and $50,000. Anthropic has been developing its life sciences presence since October 2025, when it introduced Claude for Life Sciences with Benchling and PubMed integrations.
The company previously launched the Claude Science AI workbench in public beta on June 30, 2026. By August 2026, Anthropic formalized a partnership with the US government to vet access to its models. Collaborations also include Novo Nordisk, the Allen Institute, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
