Cat Wu, the senior product lead for Claude Code, has officially resigned from Anthropic. She announced her departure on the social platform X on November 3. The company confirmed the exit as it prepares for a potential initial public offering.

Wu joined Anthropic in the summer of 2024 after encountering an early prototype of Claude Code. Alongside the project's creator, Boris Cherny, she played a central role in scaling the tool from an internal experiment to a key commercial product for the company.

Claude Code was released as a research preview in February 2025. The tool, which automates coding tasks, has become a significant driver of Anthropic's revenue and growth. Wu also oversaw the development of Cowork, an AI assistant designed for non-technical knowledge workers.

The departure of Wu follows the exit of another team member, Thariq Shihipar, who left last month. These leadership changes occur at a critical time for Anthropic as the company moves toward a public listing, drawing attention from investors regarding team stability.

During her tenure, Wu focused on aligning product development with the vision of achieving AGI-level capabilities. She managed cross-departmental collaboration, including sales and marketing, and actively engaged with user feedback to refine the product's roadmap.
