Anthropic announced the creation of a Public Benefit Fund, committing 5% of its shares to the entity. The company has allocated $200 million to study potential distribution methods, which may include direct grants or donations to nonprofits. The fund is structured as a wholly owned LLC, and the board may contribute an additional 2% of shares for every 50% increase in company valuation above an undisclosed baseline.

The company is preparing for an IPO, potentially as early as November, with a reported valuation of $2 trillion. Anthropic stated that approximately 20% of its total shares will eventually be dedicated to the public good, including co-founders' pledges to donate 80% of their equity and an employee matching program. The firm has also submitted a draft AI safety bill to lawmakers proposing government oversight for high-risk models.

In response, Elon Musk pledged to give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States. With approximately 72 million children in the country and a SpaceX share price of roughly $147, the total value of the pledge is estimated at $10.5 billion. This amount represents about 1% of the 6.42 billion shares Musk held as of June 30, according to an SEC filing.
