Anchorage Digital has expanded its partnership with the Latin American crypto platform Bitso to provide custody services for stablecoins moving between the United States and Mexico. The agreement aims to facilitate cross-border payments in one of the world's largest remittance corridors, which currently processes tens of billions of dollars annually.
Under the deal, Anchorage Digital Bank will provide custody for Bitso’s Mexican peso-pegged stablecoin, MXNB, across six blockchains: Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc. Simultaneously, Bitso has listed USDPT and USAT, the U.S. dollar stablecoins issued and custodied by Anchorage.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership. Currently, about 15% of the U.S.-Mexico remittance flow is processed through Bitso’s infrastructure. Anchorage intends to position itself as the primary institutional custody layer for stablecoin issuers and banks operating within this payment corridor.
This initiative aligns with broader industry efforts to integrate stablecoins into Latin American payment systems. Other market participants, such as Circle, are also expanding their presence in the region, including recent pilot programs for USDC settlement in Colombia.
