Circle is expanding its presence in Latin America through a partnership with ACI Worldwide. The companies are integrating USDC settlement into existing banking infrastructure, beginning with a pilot program in Colombia.

The collaboration utilizes ACI Connetic, a cloud-based payments orchestration platform. The project aims to demonstrate how stablecoins can function alongside traditional payment systems rather than replacing them.

The pilot focuses on Colombia, where ACI developed the central infrastructure for the Bre-B instant-payments network. The goal is to incorporate USDC into this real-time, account-to-account system.

This initiative reflects a broader trend of financial institutions seeking to integrate regulated stablecoins into established treasury and settlement processes. Circle previously entered the region via Argentina's Mercado Pago.
