Australian fuel retailer Ampol has announced an agreement to acquire Fast Cities Australia, the operator of the Evie Networks charging infrastructure, for AUD 225 million. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval, with both networks continuing to operate independently until that time.

The acquisition will integrate over 1,030 charging bays into Ampol’s existing infrastructure. Following the completion of the deal, the combined network will encompass approximately 1,425 charging bays distributed across more than 400 locations throughout Australia.

Ampol aims to leverage Evie Networks' established site agreements and existing grid connections to accelerate its expansion in the electric vehicle charging market. The company previously launched its AmpCharge network, which includes a ten-bay hub on Sydney’s M4 motorway featuring 400 kW ultra-fast chargers.

Evie Networks has been building a nationwide fast-charging presence, with an initial rollout plan covering over 80 stations at 42 locations. During the first half of 2026, the company recorded a 116 percent increase in charging sessions and a 120 percent rise in total energy supplied across its network.
