AMD has increased its total addressable market forecast for high-performance computing to $3 trillion by 2030. This represents a significant rise from the $2 trillion estimate provided by the company in July 2026.
CFO Jean Hu announced the updated outlook at the Citi Global TMT Conference on September 8. The company attributes this growth to an AI super investment cycle, which involves increased capital expenditure on GPUs, server CPUs, and AI-enabled PCs.
The forecast for the server CPU market has been revised upward to approximately $220 billion by 2030, compared to the previous estimate of $60 billion. Additionally, CEO Lisa Su previously identified the data-center AI accelerator market as a $1.4 trillion opportunity.
AMD plans to launch the MI450 accelerator in the current quarter to target AI inference workloads. In Q2 2026, the company reported data center revenue of $6.7 billion, which constitutes 58% of its total revenue and reflects a 107% year-on-year increase.
Following the announcement, AMD shares rose by about 6% to close near $508. The company continues to compete with Nvidia, Intel, and custom silicon from cloud providers while relying on TSMC for manufacturing its advanced nodes.
