AMD has released version 3.2 of its HIPRT ray tracing library, which includes official references to the upcoming Zen 6 Medusa processors. The changelog explicitly links these processors to three specific GPU architecture identifiers: gfx1170, gfx1171, and gfx115E.

The identifiers gfx1170 and gfx1171 are associated with the RDNA 4m architecture. References to this architecture first appeared in LLVM in February, with subsequent firmware and driver updates occurring throughout the year. RDNA 4m is categorized within the GFX11 family, sharing features with RDNA 3 and 3.5 while incorporating new matrix instructions and support for FP8/BF8 conversion.

The inclusion of gfx115E suggests that at least one variant of the Medusa chip may utilize the RDNA 3.5 architecture, which is currently found in Strix Point and Strix Halo processors. The latest HIPRT update also addresses a technical issue that previously caused errors when processing architecture identifiers containing letters.
