AMD has announced the expansion of its FSR 4.1 machine learning-based image enhancement technology to a broader range of hardware platforms. The update includes support for the entire Radeon RX 6000 series, ranging from the flagship RX 6950 XT to the entry-level RX 6400, following extensive optimization for the RDNA 2 architecture.
The company is also bringing FSR 4.1 to its APU product lines. Supported processors include the Ryzen AI Max series, such as Strix Halo and Gorgon Halo, as well as the Ryzen AI 9 Strix Point and Gorgon Point mobile platforms. Additionally, the Ryzen Z2 series processors for handheld gaming devices are included in the expansion plan.
In the console sector, AMD is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate FSR 4.1 into the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. This implementation aims to assist developers in maintaining image quality while improving operational efficiency on the console hardware.
Furthermore, AMD has introduced official support for the Vulkan graphics API, facilitating easier deployment of FSR technology for developers using this rendering solution. The company also noted that its FSR Redstone ecosystem for the RX 9000 series currently supports over 400 games, including features like frame generation and ray regeneration.
