Amazon has launched a new Fire TV Stick 4K, which can be powered directly via a television USB port, eliminating the need for an external power adapter. The device is now available for $59.99 and runs on an updated version of Fire TV OS. It includes support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Bluetooth Low Energy.
The company is streamlining its streaming device lineup, reducing the number of models from five to four. The new Fire TV Stick 4K replaces the previous Select and Plus 4K versions. The current product range now consists of the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and the Fire TV Cube.
A redesigned remote control with an asymmetrical shape and improved tactile buttons was also introduced. It is compatible with all Amazon Ember TVs and Fire TV devices released from 2019 onwards. The remote will be sold separately for $14.99, with shipments starting in late October. An upgraded Plus version with an aluminum body, backlit keys, and a remote-finding feature is planned for early next year.
Software updates include the introduction of the Alexa Plus Hub and its integration into the Fire TV mobile app. AI-driven recommendations will now incorporate real-world context, such as awards and events, to improve search results. Additionally, a new Amazon Music app for Fire TV is scheduled for release later this autumn, allowing users to request music and podcast recommendations via Alexa Plus.
